LOGO DESIGN – STAGE 1
Read the brief, Take the time, to understand and research your clients business. Note down your very first thoughts when you talk to them, as these can help guide you intuitively. Brainstorm your ideas. Look in design books, check the web for photographs, related imagery and metaphorical inspiration! What makes the company special? What is it about their product/s or service/s that stand out amongst their competitors? What resonated with the client as you talked through ideas that they had.
Now – think how you could translate that into an icon, how can you animate the text to get the point across. Make little scribbles and sketches first on paper (yes, go old school – if you are more techy and do not know what a pencil and paper are, then just sketch in Illustrator or something similar, but remember to keep them all as you may need to go back a few steps) to help you visualise how this could translate into a logo.
This is the first major step for any logo design project. Get the basics right and you have a strong foundation to build from.

If the logo is to include some type, look into different fonts which could relate well to the company. Don’t get bogged down with the same old system fonts…
